Gathering at the Convention and Exhibition Centre, Sydney this September will be artists and enthusiasts from every aspect of the Professional Make-up Industry for IMATS (the International Make-up Artist Trade Show). Those involved in the beauty, effects, film, TV print or fashion industries or in selling to the consumer make-up market who want the chance to meet and mingle with the biggest names in the business and top make-up artists in their industry are encouraged to attend.
IMATS which holds international trade shows in Sydney, Toronto, Vancouver, London, New York and Los Angeles throughout the year is the biggest event of this kind for this particular industry. The show, organized by Make-up Artist Magazine, was the first event specifically geared towards the make-up and cosmetic industry when it was first held in Los Angeles in August 1997. Since then it has become one of the most respected and essential events in the calendar of anyone wanting to keep up with the latest technology, ideas and innovations in this industry.
IMATS offers the ideal opportunity for up-and-coming and professional make-up artists to learn about their industry and get educated on the latest products available on the market. They will also have the opportunity to stock their kits with some of the best and latest brands of cosmetics and meet other creative enthusiasts. It’s a perfect opportunity too, to learn new make-up applications and techniques. Professional make-up artists will hold live demonstrations throughout the event.
IMATS will also run two live student make-up competitions. This year, the challenge is to create tribal and mythological make-up looks whilst racing with other students against the clock. There will also be a ‘Make-up Museum’ which will showcase well known sculptures and designs from film and television and for those who want to network and socialize after the show an “Afterglow Party”
